In Episode 20, SCubedPod explored Jyn Erso's role with the Rebellion in Rogue One. But, what about the movie's villains? Never fear, Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels is back to discuss the Imperial power players of Rogue One in episode twenty-one.

Recent News

This week, there is a variety of Star Wars news. The news segment begins with more Star Wars Celebration Orlando announcements. Single and looking for a Star Wars compatible date? Celebration might have your answer. Next, each Celebration has an art show. Last week, StarWarsCelebration.com announced the participating artists. The guys discuss some of the artists that will be there. Rogue One continues its climb up the all-time box office charts. Which milestone did it recently reach? The final news story concerns the Oscars. Rogue One received some nominations. Dennis and Taxus discuss the nominations and the competition for Rogue One.

Skystalking

Up next, February is nearly upon us. Therefore, it is time for another edition of Skystalking. Darth Taxus has tracked down all the Star Wars celebrity appearances for February. Although the schedule is light for February, there are some celebrities to find. Now is a good time to track down your favorite Star Wars artists.

Episode VIII Title

In an unexpected announcement last week, Lucasfilm released the title of Episode VIII. It is The Last Jedi. Tim McMahon from the Less than Twelve Parsecs podcast joins Dennis and Darth Taxus to discuss the title for the film. What does this title foreshadow if anything? Who is the "last Jedi?" Also, is that one Jedi, or more?

Imperial Power Players

Next, the guys move on to the second segment of the Hyperthetical. In the last episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, the guys discussed Jyn Erso. This time, they give the Imperials their due. Specifically, they discuss Grand Moff Tarkin and Director Krennic. After all, these were the two Imperial power players of the movie. Accompanied by Tim McMahon, they discuss why these two were rivals. Despite their similar backgrounds, they hated each other. What, if any future would Krennic have had if he had survived the Battle of Scarif? Could he have lead a coup against Tarkin?

Listen to Tim's show, Less than Twelve Parsecs, the Fastest Podcast in the Galaxy! here.

You can also find Tim on The Expanded Comicverse with Allen Voivod. Listen here.

Silence Fools

Finally, it wouldn't be an episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, if the guys didn't address some listener feedback. Of course, this means there is another edition of "Silence Fools!" This time, a dedicated listener and frequent emailer has an update about raising his children to watch Star Wars. Therefore, Dennis and Taxus talk a little about introducing their children to the saga.

Another episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrles is here. Even if Taxus doesn't quite grasp the significance of twenty-one episodes, the guys have a good time as always. Once again, thanks for joining us for this episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels.

Welcome to another Scoundrels Special Edition of Starships Sabers and Scoundrels. This week, SCubedPod focuses on the latest episode from season three of Rebels: "Trials of the Darksaber." Kanan finally reveals the recovery of the Darksaber to Fenn Rau. Now, they must convince Sabine to wield the weapon and unite the Mandalorians behind her. This is a somewhat in-depth review that contains spoilers.

Sabine's Past

The guys begin the discussion by reviewing Sabine's past. Once pressed while training, Sabine is overcome by emotion as she spars with Kanan. What does she reveal about her family? Also, does this explain why she is so connected to the crew of the Ghost? With the revelations of this episode, can she unite the people of Mandalore?

Kanan the Teacher

Training a student is hardly a new concept to Kanan. After all, he trained Ezra since season one. However, he has difficulty with training Sabine. Why is this and what is the difference between training Ezra and Sabine? Also, what does Hera contribute to his breakthrough?

Ezra's Role

As usual, we discuss the development of the crew. This episode provides a multiple opportunities for that discussion. For example, Ezra takes an active role in Sabine's saber training. Another topic of conversation is Ezra's sibling rivalry with Sabine. Also, Ezra helps Sabine come to a realization about family. What is it he said? Was it effective? In addition, Hera contributes to Sabine's training from afar.

Bonus Silence Fools!

After the discussion of "Trials of the Darksaber", Dennis, and Taxus conduct another bonus edition of "Silence Fools!" to answer an email related to last week's episode "Warhead."

The Star Wars community is still abuzz with Rogue One discussion. But, what about the movie's heroine? Ergo Jyn Erso. Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels is back to discuss everyone's favorite rebelling Rebel.

Recent News

This week, there is a variety of Star Wars news. Finally, the saga of the location of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is over. What city will the museum call home? Also, Walt Diseny World jumps in on the Star Wars Celebration Orlando festivities. What does the happiest place on Earth have in store? Next, Disney announced updates for Star Tours. What additions are coming to the Disney Hollywood Studios attraction? The final news story concerns casting for the upcoming Han Solo movie. Dennis and Taxus discuss the latest addition to the cast.

Ergo Jyn Erso

Up next, the guys turn to Rogue One. Despite the bountiful discussion of the movie, its heroine receives comparatively little attention. Therefore, the guys invited Jay Krebs to join them and discuss all things Jyn Erso. Early descriptions of Jyn compared her to Joan of Arc. Does she live up to that legacy? In addition, how does she carry the spirit of the Rebellion? Also, would the Rebellion survive without her actions in Rogue One?

Jay Krebs' blogs can be found here. Also, check out her "Core Worlds Couture" column.

Silence Fools

Finally, it wouldn't be an episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, if the guys didn't address some listener feedback. Of course, this means there is another edition of "Silence Fools!" This time, a listener has a question concerning a detail he noticed on Imperial and Rebel uniforms. Therefore, Dennis and Taxus did a little research and come back with the answer.

Another year of Star Wars is rolling along. SCubedPod keeps rolling with it. Therefore, we hope you'll stay on a Star Wars roll with us. Once again, thanks for joining us for episode twenty of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels.

Welcome to another Scoundrels Special Edition of Starships Sabers and Scoundrels. This week, SCubedPod focuses on the latest two-part episode of season three of Rebels: "Ghosts of Geonosis." When a Rebel recon team fails to report back to the Alliance, Hera and the crew of the Ghost are sent to investigate. Their journey takes them to Geonosis to investigate the eradication of the Geonosians. During their mission, they encounter Saw Gerrera from The Clone Wars and Rogue One. This is a somewhat in-depth review that contains spoilers.

Saw Gerrera

First, the guys address the inclusion of Saw Gerrera. Darth Taxus recently discovered a possible connection between the events of Rebels and Rogue One. Does the episode clarify that connection? Also, the Rebellion had disavowed Saw by the time of Rogue One. Does this episode explain why that is? Might Saw Gerrera return in a future episode of Rebels?

The Geonosians and the Death Star

In "The Honorable Ones," from season two, the crew of the Ghost arrived at Geonosis to find traces of an Imperial construction project. Does this episode offer any clues as to what the Empire was up to? What else, if anything, does this episode tell viewers about the Empire's secret battle station?

Also, Hera and company discovered that Geonosis was deserted last season. A lone Geonosian remains. What clues can he offer the Rebellion as to the fate of his species? In addition, this Geonosian safeguards a precious treasure. Does this plot element relate to anything readers of Marvel's comics may have seen before? We'll discuss.

The Crew of the Ghost

In each Scoundrels Special Edition, we discuss the development of the crew. As expected, this episode is no different. The recent mid-season trailer promised big things for Sabine. What do they mean for Sabine, the Mandalorians, and Rebels going forward? Another topic of conversation is Ezra's reaction to Saw Gerrera. Ezra continues to develop this season, and this episode advances his relationship to the Rebellion and the Force.

Bonus Silence Fools!

After the discussion of "Ghosts of Geonosis", Dennis, and Taxus conduct a bonus edition of "Silence Fools!" to answer an email related to this episode. Finally, the guys will discuss other things to come in the second half of this season of Rebels as previewed in the mid-season trailer.
