Welcome to episode 69 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The Force Begins. On this episode, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus look back to their initial impressions of the Force after the release of A New Hope.  Before they get to the news, the Scoundrels discuss the potential for the Russos to direct a movie and Dennis reports on the John Williams Christmas concert at the Dallas Symphony.

Star Wars in the News

It was a busy week for Star Wars news. The Scoundrels discussing casting and production news for the live action Star Wars television series. Also, they discuss additional guest announcements for Star Wars Celebration Chicago. In addition, the news includes discussion of a new Darth Vader comic and a new Thrawn novel. Finally, the news concludes with a discussion of Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures.

The Force Begins

An episode of Galaxy of Adventures features Luke receiving Anakin's lightsaber. However, the animation of that scene is far different than the scene presented in A New Hope. This got the Scoundrels thinking, "what were our early impressions of the Force 40 years ago?" In this week's "Hyperthetical," they look back on the presentation and introduction of the Force to movie audiences from A New Hope.

Silence Fools!

As with every episode, episode 69 ends with another edition of "Silence Fools!" For listeners new to Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, "Silence Fools!" is the feedback and listener participation segment of this show. On this week's show, they Scoundrels answer a listener email and discuss whether Obi-Wan should have done more to counter Palpatine's influence of Anakin.

elcome to episode 68.2 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Secrets and Holograms. On this episode, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus take a look at the discoveries Kaz makes while spying on Captain Doza. However, those discoveries are set against a backdrop of adventure with the captain's daughter: Torra Doza.

Secrets and Holograms

"Secrets and Holograms" begins with Torra Doza lamenting her boredom in her bedroom. After confronting her father about his dealings with the First Order, she decides to sneak out. Very quickly, she bumps (literally) into Kaz and BB-8. Although Kaz tags along for her trip to the market, he is really interested in spying on Torra's father.

On this episode, the Scoundrels discuss Kaz's continuing evolution as a spy. Plus, when presented with a straightforward question about whether he is a spy, Kaz answers with a poor excuse for a lie. Does he have a day of reckoning coming? In addition, the First Order is making a move on Colossus. What will the results be.

Welcome to episode 68 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Kenobi Quesions. On this episode, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus discuss the hero of the prequels: Obi-Wan Kenobi.  There are a few other matters to get to first.

Star Wars in the News

After a slow news week in episode 67, the Scoundrels have plenty up for discussion this week. They pour over the news of a live action Cassian Andor series. Then they discuss casting news for The Mandalorian. Also, they discuss announcements of authors appearing at Star Wars Celebration Chicago. Finally, they end the show with news about the Galaxy's Edge additions to Disney Parks.

Kenobi Questions

Obi-Wan Kenobi was the original mentor to Luke Skywalker and the hero of the prequel trilogy. In addition, he was a general and key figure in the Clone Wars. On episode 68, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus discuss this legendary Jedi Master. Kenobi had a fluid view of the truth and point-of-view. Do the Scoundrels agree with his reasoning? In addition, his padawan, Anakin Skywalker, isn't the only one with a love interest in his life. Could Obi-Wan have gone the same route? The Scoundrels discuss this and much more in this week's "hyperthetical."

Silence Fools!

Welcome to episode 67.1 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Signal from Sector Six. On this episode, Dennis and Darth Taxus are discussing the latest episode of Resistance.  This is Taxus's first opportunity to discuss Resistance on Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels. It marks the return of Poe Dameron and features Kowakian ape-lizards. Seriously.

Signal from Sector Six

The latest episode of Resistance has Yeager waking Kaz up early for a special salvaging job. However, that was just a cover story for a rendezvous with Poe Dameron. Once reunited, Kaz and Poe take to space with some X-Wings. Before long, they receive a distress signal. When they investigate, they find a freighter attacked by pirates. Closer inspection reveals a rampant...Kowakian ape-lizard! Can they recover a survivor of the pirate attack and get off the freighter?

This episode clearly sets up further adventures and stories on Resistance. What is the survivor of the freighter up to? What is the plan for Colossus Station for the pirates and the First Order? Also, who knew that Kowakian ape-lizards were a thing in Star Wars?

Thanks for tuning into episode 67.1 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Signal from Sector Six. We hope you enjoyed this review of the latest episode of Resistance.

Welcome to episode 67 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Star Wars of Decembers Past. On this episode, the Scoundrels are looking back at the Star Wars movies of past Decembers.  Although there isn't a new Star Wars movie this winter, it is still fun to look back at the last three holiday releases.

Star Wars News

Things were fairly quite in the realm of Star Wars news. However, Harrison Ford is receiving an award, and Star Wars Celebration Chicago announced their first guest. The Scoundrels discuss these stories in this week's coverage of the news.

NOTE: The news of the new live action series featuring Cassian Andor broke the day after the Scoundrels recorded this episode. Although it is covered briefly in this episode, we'll cover it in more depth on episode 68.

Star Wars of Decembers Past

Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, Star Wars became a staple of the holiday season. However, that tradition is on a temporary hiatus in 2018. With no new Star Wars film to look forward to next month, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus revisit the Star Wars movies of the last three Decembers: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi. They revisit the hype and promotion of the films leading up to their release. They'll reflect on some of the twists and surprises from the movies as well. It is a fun trip down memory lane, so join the Scoundrels for the fun.

Silence Fools!

Silence Fools!, the listener feedback portion of the show, features an email from a listener as he shares some posters related to Maul: Lockdown. The Scoundrels also cover episode 66's Twitter poll results and propose a new poll.

Thanks for tuning into episode 67 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Star Wars of Decembers Past. We hope you enjoyed our look back at the recent Star Wars movies in December.

Welcome to episode 66.2 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The Children from Tehar. On this episode, Dennis invites Kendall Schroeder to the show for a discussion of Resistance.  The conversation ranges from about the show in general to a more specific discussion of "The Children from Tehar." Afterwards, they discuss Star Wars art with a focus on Kendall's work.

The Children from Tehar

The latest episode of Resistance finds Kaz trying to help but making mistakes. His inexperience as a mechanic comes through when he inadvertently breaks a compressor Tam and Neeku need for the Fireball. Kaz vows to replace the part, but he doesn't have the credits. However, fate seemingly intervenes when Kaz discovers two children on Colossus station with a sizable bounty on their heads. Kaz sees an opportunity, but he doesn't understand what he is getting into. Things get more complicated when Captain Doza summons Kaz for a meeting and the First Order, lead by the gold-armored Commander Pyre, arrive.

This episode further the intrigue around Captain Doza and the First Order in Resistance. In addition, Kaz continues his development as a spy for the Resistance. This episode raises the question: is Kaz naive or just inexperienced? Also, is he worthy of the praise he receives from an officer of the Resistance? Dennis and Kendall discuss this and more on episode 66.2.

Thanks for tuning into episode 66.2 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The Children from Tehar. We hope you enjoyed this review of the latest episode of Resistance.

Welcome to episode 66.1 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The High Tower. On this episode, Dennis is flying solo (pun intended) with a review of latest episode of Star Wars: Resistance, "The High Tower."

The High Tower

The latest episode of Resistance begins with Colossus Station rationing power due to a fuel shortage. Without power to work, Kaz, Tam, Neeku, and BB-8 visit Aunt Z's for drinks. Before long, Kaz meets Hype Fazon, the Rodian Ace pilot. Hype is an old acquaintance of Tam, and he invites them to the High Tower. Kaz can't pass up on the opportunity to spy on the First Order, which just arrived on the station with a fuel shipment.

This episode sets up a lot of possibilities for Resistance going forward. Is Captain Doza in league with the First Order? Kaz's skills as a spy improved, but is he capable of succeeding? Why does the First Order want Colossus Station so badly? Dennis shares his observations on these points and more during his analysis.

Thanks for tuning into episode 66.1 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The High Tower. We hope you enjoyed this review of the latest episode of Resistance.

Welcome to episode 66 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Execute Episode 66. On this episode, the Scoundrels are celebrating a very special Star Wars Halloween. But, Taxus wants to collect candy.  The problem is, he might be a little too old to pass for a kid trick-or-treating. So, he has a unique solution that he claims is fool proof. What could possibly go wrong?

Star Wars News

While the Scoundrels deal with the issues created by Taxus's Halloween shenanigans, they also deal with some news. StarWars.com and Jon Favreau released new information on The Mandalorian. Star Wars Celebration Chicago tickets are selling fast! Also, there are plenty of publishing announcements from New York Comic Con up for discussion.

Maul: Lockdown

As is tradition for the Scoundrels on Halloween, they discuss a novel by Joe Schreiber. This year, it is Maul: Lockdown. When Darth Sidious sends Darth Maul undercover to acquire a prison, Maul rises to the challenge. However, this mission takes Maul to an intergalactic prison full of gangs, monsters, and mysteries. In addition, the difficulty of the assignment increases when Sidious forbids Maul from using the Force. Can Maul survive feuding gangsters, gladiatorial combat, prison security, invading cultists, and horrifying monsters and complete his mission? Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus dive into Maul: Lockdown and dicsuss Maul's insane mission.

Silence Fools

Episode 66 concludes with Silence Fools! On this listener feedback section of the show, the Scoundrels read an iTunes review, respond to email, and review the results of their latest Twitter poll.

Welcome to episode 65.5 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Fuel for the Fire. On this Scoundrels Special Edition, Taxus and Jay are away, so Dennis invites Joe Tavano from Brews and Blasters on for a discussion of "Fuel for the Fire" and several other Star Wars topics.

Resistance Episode 3: "Fuel for the Fire"

Dennis and Joe begin their discussion of "Fuel for the Fire" with Joe's opinions on Resistance in general. What is working and what needs tweaking in the latest animated Star Wars series? Then they get into "Fuel for the Fire." Dennis asks whether this episode moves the story in a meaningful way, or is the set up for later developments. Is Kaz making the same mistakes that Ezra made during season two of Rebels? Plus, what is so important about Colossus Station that the First Order has its eye on it?

After their Resistance discussion, Dennis and Joe talk about the potential of The Mandalorian. In particular, they dive into the hype for the upcoming series and how little audiences actually know about this show. After that, the discussion moves on to other topics including The Clone Wars and the Yuuzhan Vong from Legends.

Thanks for tuning into episode 65.5 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Fuel for the Fire. We hope you enjoyed this Resistance and Star Wars discussion between Dennis and Joe .

Jay then asks Taxus about cosplay at the convention. So, Taxus shares his opinions on some of the best and most popular costume choices for attendees at the convention.

Comic conventions are known for their merchandise and the opportunity to score rare and unique art, comics, toys, and costume items. In addition, cons are known for their celebrity guests. Taxus shares some of his merchandise scores and celebrity interactions on the show.

Finally, the highlight for Star Wars fans was the appearance of Ray Park. Taxus recounts his meeting with the actor that is Darth Maul and some of the revelations from Park's panel.

Welcome to episode 65.3 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The Triple Dark. On this Scoundrels Special Edition, Jay and Dennis continue the discussion of Resistance with a look at the second episode of the series.

The Triple Dark

"The Triple Dark" begins with Kaz continuing to make his own way on Colossus Station. Kaz is eager to begin his mission for a spy for the Resistance. His initial efforts at spying meet with less than desirable results. However, he overhears a communication about the Triple Dark, and when he learns it is a storm later, he begins to put things together. Can Kaz successfully aid the Aces in defending Colossus from a pirate raid?

During their review of "The Triple Dark," Dennis and Jay take a critical lens to the show. What is currently working for Resistance? Where does it falter. In particular, Dennis and Jay identify a couple of tropes they found annoying. Plus, is the tone more similar to Looney Tunes than Star Wars in places?

Despite the faults of "The Triple Dark," this episode does have some high points. Kaz is developing, even if slowly. Plus, there are some great looking ships in this episode. Download episode 65.3 and get the full take from the Scoundrels.

Thanks for tuning into episode 65.3 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The Triple Dark. We hope you enjoyed this discussion of Resistance.

Welcome to episode 65.1 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: The Novel Bracket Part II. On this Scoundrels Special Edition, Dennis and Jay shake off the absence of Darth Taxus, who is neck deep with real life responsibilities, and begin the Scounrels' coverage of the latest Star Wars animated series from Lucasfilm.

"The Recruit"

Episode one of The Resistance begins with pilot for the Republic Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono and his wingmates pursued by a First Order TIE Fighter as they attempt a delivery of top secret intel to Poe Dameron of the Resistance. Before long, Kaz finds himself a new recruit in the fight against the dangerous First Order. Poe assigns him his first mission as a spy on Colossus Station on the ocean world of Castilon. Soon thereafter, Kaz is caught up in a community of racers on this haven for smugglers as he looks for First Order operatives.

Dennis and Jay dive into "The Recruit" and discuss Kaz and his new allies Yeager, Torra Doza, Tam Ryvora, and Neeku. Does Resistance hold up compared to The Clone Wars and Rebels? How does the action come across on the screen? Is this show truly aimed at 8 year olds, or is it appealing to all audiences? The Scoundrels discuss these questions as they work through the first episode of the series.

Welcome to episode 62 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Thrawn, Tigers, and Television. On this episode, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus return from their summer breaks. The kids are back to school, and vacations are over. So, it is time to get back into Star Wars. This is a busy episode that features a review of Thrawn: Alliances, an announcement of fundraising efforts to support some Star Wars named tigers, and discussion of recent Star Wars television news.

Tigers!

On a past episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, we shared news of  Kylo Ren, the white tiger rescued by In-Sync Exotics. Kylo now has a friend in Kenobi. Further getting into the Star Wars spirit, In-Sync plans to build a new Millennium Falcon shaped pool for these two young tigers. SCubedPod is supporting their efforts. On episode 62, find out how you can donate to the cause and possibly win some cool Star Wars prizes for your support.

Television News

At San Diego Comic Con, Dave Filoni surprised and delighted Star Wars fans everywhere with the announcement of new episodes of The Clone Wars. On episode 62, Dennis, Jay, and Taxus react to the announcement in this week's news segment. Also, the first trailer for Resistance recently debuted. The Scoundrels share their initial reactions to the trailer.

Skystalking

With October right around the corner, it is time to find out where all the Star Wars celebrities will be appearing next month. Darth Taxus has done the leg work for you. Tune into a new segment of "Skystalking" and learn where you can find all the Star Wars celebrities next month.

Thrawn: Alliances

Timothy Zahn's latest Star Wars novel hit shelves last month. Now that sufficient time has passed, Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus dive into the book with the official Scoundrels Review. What did the Scoundrels think of Thrawn, Anakin, Padme, and Darth Vader? How about Batuu and Black Spire Outpost? Check out our discussion of Thrawn: Alliances.

Silence Fools!

As with every episode, this edition of the show ends with "Silence Fools!" This week, the Scoundrels read a new iTunes review and then turn to the results of a recent Twitter poll.
