Welcome to episode 24.5, a Scoundrels Special Edition. On this episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, Dennis and Taxus discuss the latest episode of Rebels, "Twin Suns." This show contains spoilers for latest episode of Rebels.

Trivia

As is usual lately, Dennis starts this Scoundrels Special Edition with some trivia. Therefore, this episode carries on the tradition. Dennis has a few questions in store for Taxus related to Maul from his time as an outcast, Maul's battles during the Clone Wars, and Tatooine. How does Taxus do? Also, can you answer these questions?

Maul's Hunt for Kenobi

After the trivia, the guys get into "Twin Suns." Maul finally arrived on Tatooine. Since learning of Obi-Wan's survival during "Holocrons of Fate," Maul has been hunting him. Despite his attempts, he cannot locate Kenobi on the desolate world. Therefore, he resorts to summoning Ezra Bridger through remains of the Holocrons.

Ezra's Role

Although this episode features Obi-Wan's climactic duel with Maul, Ezra Bridger is featured. Maul needs a lure for Obi-Wan's nobility, and Ezra will do nicely. Dennis and Taxus therefore discuss Ezra's involvement. Was he necessary? Could this episode have used less Ezra? Also, did Ezra learn anything?

The Duel

Ever since "Holocrons of Fate," Rebels viewers anticipated this showdown. So, it is natural to wonder if it lived up to the hype. Dave Filoni and the creative team at Lucasfilm carefully crafted the final battle. Did it work? In addition, what move did Maul attempt to finish Kenobi with?

The Legacy of Maul

Once this episode was over, it was fitting to ask what it meant for Maul. For instance, did he find peace? Also, did he intend to win? What if he had won? Furthermore, Maul asked Obi-Wan an interesting question. Obi-Wan's answer sparked debate among the fan community. What did each of them mean? Are they correct?

There is plenty to discuss in this episode. So, join Dennis and Taxus analyze "Twin Suns." Thanks for listening to episode 24.5 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Twin Suns and Legacy of Maul.

Next, Lucasfilm recently announced the fourth season of Rebels, and therefore, Dennis and Taxus discuss what this means going forward. In addition, the Han Solo spinoff movie adds another member of the cast. J.J. Abrams believes Mark Hamill should win an Oscar for his portrayal of Luke Skyalkwer in The Last Jedi. This is a bold claim. However, he made the claim before anyone outside Disney and Lucasfilm saw footage. Dennis and Taxus discuss Abram's brash claim. Plus, the guys discuss a few other recent news items.

Aftermath: Empire's End

Chuck Wendig concluded the Aftermath trilogy with Empire's End. Since the conclusion of Life Debt, readers and fans wondered about Palpatine's installation on Jakku. Finally, readers have their answers. Dennis and Taxus compare Empire's End to the previous novels in the series during their review. In addition, they discuss what this novel means to the sequel trilogy, the First Order, and more.

Star Wars Celebration Orlando Announcements

After discussing recent news, the guys next turn to recent Star Wars Celebration Orlando announcements. Fans that like video games will probably enjoy EA's presence at Celebration. Also, the list of Star Wars celebrities signing autographs continues to grow. Find out who Lucasfilm and Reed Pop confirmed this week. Although the release of Thrawn occurs prior to Celebration, Timothy Zahn fans have a reason to be excited. Dennis and Taxus discuss that reason in this episode plus other Celebration announcements. Spoilers: Dave Filoni, Rebels, Vanessa Marshall, Rebels, Star Wars Galactic Nights, and Rebels.

Double Agent Droid

Rebels returns with an AP-5 and Choppercentric story, "Double Agent Droid." After the Empire compromises Chopper, Hera and the Rebels must fight their loyal but grumpy droid. In addition, they must act quickly before Chopper transmits the location of the Rebel Base. Oh, this episode also features Josh Gad. In addition, anything Chopper can do, AP-5 can do better. Just ask him.

Silence Fools!

Welcome to Episode 23.5, a Scoundrels Special Edition. On this episode of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels, Dennis and Taxus discuss the latest episode of Rebels, "Secret Cargo." However, Dennis has a little surprise in store for Taxus first.

Trivia

So, what is the big surprise? Regular listeners to the Scoundrel Special Editions will no doubt recall that these have featured trivia. Therefore, this episode carries on the tradition. Dennis has a few questions in store for Taxus related to Mon Mothma, Y-Wings, TIE Defenders, and other characters related to "Secret Cargo."

Gold Squadron

After the trivia, the guys get into "Secret Cargo." While waiting to rendezvous with another Rebel cell, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper wait aboard the Ghost in a debris field. An infiltrator droid unexpectedly arrives, and before they can destroy it, the other Rebels, including Gold Squadron, show up. Gold Squadron was featured in both Rogue One and A New Hope. Therefore, Star Wars fans might expect a certain captain to show up. They won't be disappointed.

The Archeron Nebula and TIE Defenders

Although the infiltrator was destroyed, it managed to alert the Empire, which attacks and disables Gold Squadron’s freighter, forcing them to transfer their secret cargo to the Ghost, which just happens to be Mon Mothma. Although some of Gold Squadron and the Ghost escape, Thrawn correctly deduces the Rebels choice of an old smuggler's route through a nebula. He then dispatches a TIE Defender after them.

Not an Easy Escape

Despite a few additional casualties, Hera and Gold Squadron successfully evade the Imperial pursuers, but are intercepted by Imperial Star Destroyers on the other side of the nebula. Using an old smuggler’s trick, Gold Squadron causes part of the nebula to explode and disable the Imperial ships, allowing the Rebels to escape. Once they arrive at their destination safely, Mon Mothma transmits a speech that summons various Rebel ships together, thereby forming a Rebel fleet.

There is plenty to discuss in this episode. So, join Dennis and Taxus analyze "Secret Cargo." Thanks for listening to Episode 23.5 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Secret Cargo.
